Parliament Question: Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness of Capital Goods Sector

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 454 ANSWERED ON 21.07.2026 SCHEME FOR ENHANCEMENT OF COMPETITIVENESS OF CAPITAL GOODS SECTOR 454. SHRI DHAVAL LAXMANBHAI PATEL: Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state: (a) the status of the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness of the Capital Goods Sector and its uptake by heavy engineering units in Gujarat; (b) whether industry-linked skilling tie-ups have been established with Industrial Training Institutes in South Gujarat to meet workforce requirements of this sector; and (c) the details regarding outcomes achieved so far in terms of technology upgradation and employment? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) (a): Ministry of Heavy Industries has notified the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector. Under Phase-I of the Scheme, 33 projects with budgetary support of Rs. 583.312 crore have been sanctioned. Under Phase-II of the Scheme 29 projects with budgetary support of Rs. 714.64 crore have been sanctioned. Project named Common Engineering Facility Centre (CEFC) by Science Engineering & Technological Upliftment (SETU) Foundation at Bardoli, Surat, Gujarat was sanctioned under Phase-I of the Scheme. (b): Nil (c): Under the Scheme, so far 74 niche technologies have been developed and 23 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) have been granted. No data in terms of employment is maintained by the Ministry. *****
