**Summary:**
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, is implementing the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) scheme across India since 2014-15. The NPDD scheme has two components: Component A focuses on strengthening infrastructure for quality milk testing equipment and primary chilling facilities for various organizations, including State Cooperative Dairy Federations, District Cooperative Milk Producers Unions, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Milk Producer Companies, and Farmer Producer Organizations. Component B, "Dairying through Cooperatives," aims to increase the sale of milk and dairy products by improving farmer access to organized markets, upgrading dairy processing facilities and marketing infrastructure, and enhancing the capacity of producer-owned institutions.
Financial assistance is provided under the NPDD scheme for the construction and strengthening of infrastructure for primary chilling facilities, along with quality milk testing equipment. To date, the scheme has facilitated the installation of 5707 Bulk Milk Coolers with a total chilling capacity of 140.65 lakh litres, 47,785 Automatic Milk Collection Units and Data Processing and Milk Collection Units, 7840 Milk Analysers, and 7550 Electronic Milk Adulteration Testing Equipment at the primary village level dairy cooperative societies.
In Gujarat, eight projects have been approved under the NPDD scheme, with a total outlay of Rs. 552.82 crore, including a Central share of Rs. 337.52 crore. Of this, Rs. 246.10 crore has been released to implementing agencies. This includes a Central share of Rs. 66.89 crore approved for the Mehsana Milk Union for the installation of 290 Bulk Milk Coolers, 678 Automatic Milk Collection Units with Milk Analysers, 500 Electronic Milk Adulteration Testing Machines, and the strengthening of the Mehsana Dairy Plant laboratory, with Rs. 39.96 crore approved.

Unions/SHG Self Help Organization provide any assistance to private dairies/milk producing
farmers for construction/strengthening of infrastructure for primary chilling facilities along
with the quality milk testing equipment under the Scheme, if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details for NPDD Scheme in Gujarat including Lok Sabha Constituency, Mehsana?

(a) Yes, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing “National Programme for
Dairy Development (NPDD)” scheme across the country since 2014-15. NPDD is implemented
with the following 2 components:
(i) Component ''A'' of NPDD focuses on creating/strengthening of infrastructure for
quality milk testing equipment as well as primary chilling facilities for State Cooperative
Dairy Federations/ District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union/ Self Help Groups (SHGs)/
Milk Producer Companies/ Farmer Producer Organizations.
(ii) Component “B” of the NPDD scheme "Dairying through Cooperatives” aims to
increase sale of milk and dairy products by increasing farmer’s access to organized market,
upgrading dairy processing facilities and marketing infrastructure and enhancing the
capacity of producer owned institutions.
