Parliament Question: Scholarship for EWS Students under PM-YASASVI

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 278 TO BE ANSWERED ON 21.07.2026 SCHOLARSHIP FOR EWS STUDENTS UNDER PM-YASASVI 278. SHRI KAMAKHYA PRASAD TASA: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is providing scholarship for Economically Weaker Students under PM-YASASVI (Prime Minister Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India) for backward category students from OBC, EBC and DNT, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether a huge number of economically weaker students from general category who are unable to continue their studies due to bad financial conditions, if so, the details thereof; (c) whether there is any proposal to launch a post-metriculation scholarship scheme for the Economically Weaker Students from General Category, so as to enable them to pursue higher education; and (d) if so, the details thereof and action being taken by the Government in this regard? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SHRI B.L. VERMA) (a) to (d): The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing PM-YASASVI umbrella Scheme. There are following sub-schemes under PM-YASASVI for Scholarship +, Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students +, Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students iii. Top Class Education in Schools Scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students; and iv. Top Class Education in Colleges Scheme for OBC, EBC and DNT students 3K ok ok ok
