SHRI HARISH CHANDRA MEENA: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) the details and total number of students of SC category applied for scholarship under the schemes sponsored by Central Government and the number of students, who were provided scholarships during the last five years, State and district-wise including Rajasthan; (b) whether it is a fact that the scholarships are not being given to SC students in Rajasthan during the last three years, if so, the reasons therefor; (c) whether the Government proposes to provide scholarships to SC students who are deprived of scholarships in Rajasthan, if so, the time by which scholarship is likely to be provided and if not, - the reasons therefor; (d) whether the scholarships given to SC students under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme of previous years are pending in many States, if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Rajasthan; (e) whether the Government is delaying the allocation of funds to the States for this purpose, if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Rajasthan; and (f) the impact of delay in scholarships for the higher education of students along with the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SHRI RAMDAS ATHAWALE) (a) to (f): Department of Social Justice and Empowerment implements Centrally Sponsored ‘Pre-Matric Scholarships Scheme for SCs & Others’ and ‘Post-Matric Scholarships Scheme for SC Students through States/UTs. Under these schemes, scholarships are released directly into the Aadhaar Seeded Bank Account of the beneficiaries through DBT. Under the above said schemes, the release of Central share of scholarships is contingent upon states/UTs disbursing their share and pushing the States/UTs share paid data to the National Scholarship Portal. The States/UTs-wise details of number of beneficiaries, including State of Rajasthan, who were released Central Share during the last five FYs is attached at Annexure.
