Sivadasan: Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state: (a) the number of new beneficiaries added each year during the last five years, scheme-wise, for Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students, National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme, Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme for Education Loans and PM Vidyalaxmi Education Loan Scheme; (b) the total funds allocated, released and actually spent under each of the above schemes during the last five years, year-wise; and (c) the amount of funds that remained unspent or lapsed, scheme-wise, during the same period? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (DR. SUKANTA MAJUMDAR) (a) to (c): The Ministry of Education is implementing Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana, comprising of three (03) component schemes, namely: (i) Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students, (ii) Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and (iii) Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme; National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme and PM Vidyalaxmi scheme.
