Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether more than 1700 schools in Uttar Pradesh have been selected for upgradation under the
PM School for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of schools selected from Bahraich Lok Sabha Constituency under this scheme;
(c) the number of schools out of the selected schools in Uttar Pradesh, especially from Bahraich
Lok Sabha Constituency, upgraded and modernized under this scheme and the nature of the work
in these selected schools along with the time by which the upgradation work of the remaining
schools is likely to be completed; and
(d) whether the Government proposes to select more schools in the above mentioned area under
the scheme so that more children from rural areas can get the benefit of better education and if so,
the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Under the PM SHRI scheme, there is a provision of setting up of more than 14500
PM SHRI Schools by strengthening the existing schools from amongst schools managed by
Central government/State/UT Government/local bodies out of which a total of 13,076 schools
have been selected through transparent challenge method from 33 States/UTs along with
KVS/NVS/NCERT out of which a total of 1,725 schools have been selected from the State of
Uttar Pradesh. As informed by the State of Uttar Pradesh, 18 schools have been selected from
Bahraich Lok Sabha Constituency. Further, the details of PM SHRI schools may be accessed on

Under PM SHRI scheme, PM SHRI schools are upgraded to showcase all the components
of the National Education Policy 2020 and focus on cognitive development and creating holistic
and well- rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills. The scheme focuses on
creating an equitable, inclusive, and joyful learning environment that caters to diverse
backgrounds, multilingual needs, and varied academic abilities. These schools are designed to
engage students actively in their learning process, ensuring that every child feels welcomed, cared
for, and supported in a safe and stimulating environment.To make PM SHRI schools exemplar with equitable, inclusive and joyful school
environment, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to saturate PM SHRI schools with various
components. However, the physical and academic upgradation is a continuous process. States/UTs
identify gaps in saturation of components such as Computer Lab/ICT Lab/Smart Classrooms,
Library with Good Furniture, Internet Facility, Vocational Skill Education, Guidance and Career
Counselling, Fully Equipped Integrated Science Lab/Physics Lab/Chemistry Lab/Biology Lab,
Playground with Well-Equipped Sports Facilities, School Innovation Council, Youth and Eco
Club for Mission LiFE, Bala Features and Jadui Pitara for Primary School Children, 10 Bagless
Days for Students, Child Tracking Software for Tracking the Children's Attendance, Fully
Functioning Handwashing Facility and Toilets, Green School Features etc. and submit proposal
which is appraised and sanctioned by the Project Approval Board (PAB), in consultation with
States/UTs according to financial and programmatic norms and provision available.
