Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the number of schools selected under the PM-SHRI scheme in backward, tribal and
aspirational districts of the country such as Kaimur and Rohtas;
(b) the details of the distribution of selected schools under the scheme, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether any special provisions have been made for inclusion of scheduled areas or tribal
districts;
(d) whether the Government has made any arrangements for digital infrastructure in these
schools;
(e) the details of the expected timeline for full implementation in each phase; and
(f) whether any teacher training and quality improvement plans being undertaken under the
scheme and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): Under the PM SHRI scheme, a total of 13,076 schools have been selected
from 33 States/UTs along with KVS/NVS/NCERT. The district-wise details of PM SHRI
schools including backward, tribal and aspirational districts may be accessed on the website
of PM SHRI scheme at the link: https://pmshri.education.gov.in/state. As per PM SHRI
scheme provisions, a maximum of two schools per block/ULB are selected with an upper
limit on the total number of schools across India.
Further, 18 PM SHRI schools have been selected from Kaimur district and 32 PM
SHRI schools from Rohtas district in Bihar. The State/UT/KVS/NVS/NCERT-wise number
of schools selected as PM SHRI schools is attached as Annexure-I.
(d) to (f): Under PM SHRI scheme, PM SHRI schools are upgraded to showcase all the
components of the National Education Policy 2020 and focus on cognitive development andcreating holistic and well- rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills. The
timeline for implementation of PM SHRI scheme is set for a period of five years, from 2022-
23 to 2026-27.
To make PM SHRI schools exemplar with equitable, inclusive and joyful school
environment, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to saturate PM SHRI schools with various
components. States/UTs identify gaps in saturation of components such as Computer
Lab/ICT Lab/Smart Classrooms, Library with Good Furniture, Internet Facility, Vocational
Skill Education, Guidance and Career Counselling, Fully Equipped Integrated Science
Lab/Physics Lab/Chemistry Lab/Biology Lab, Playground with Well-Equipped Sports
Facilities, School Innovation Council, Youth and Eco Club for Mission LiFE, Bala Features
and Jadui Pitara for Primary School Children, 10 Bagless Days for Students, Child Tracking
Software for Tracking the Children's Attendance, Fully Functioning Handwashing Facility
and Toilets, Green School Features etc. and submit proposal which is appraised and
sanctioned by the Project Approval Board (PAB), in consultation with States/UTs according
to financial and programmatic norms and provision available.
Further, PM SHRI school teachers are trained in competency-based education,
Holistic Progress Cards, school safety, mental well-being, and ICT integration by DIETs
which strengthen pedagogical strategies, data-based instructional planning, and classroom
assessments, ultimately impacting student learning outcomes.
