SEA WORLD PROJECT IN MAHARASHTRA
†90. SHRI NARAYAN TATU RANE:
Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) the present status of the proposed Sea-World project in Tondavali-
Talashil area of Malvan taluka in Sindhudurg district;
(b) the estimated cost and the time period required for completion of the
said project;
(c) the details of local employment generation opportunities likely to be
created by the said project; and
(d) the details of the steps being taken by the Government to remove the
obstacles being faced in the implementation of the said project?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (d): Presently, there is no project titled Sea-World in Tondavali-Talashil
area of Malvan taluka in Sindhudurg district is under consideration under any
scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
However, this Ministry under Special Assistance to the States for Capital
Investment (SASCI) scheme sanctioned “Ex-INS Guldar Underwater Museum,
Artificial Reef, and Submarine Tourism, Sindhdurg” project in the state of
Maharashtra for ₹46.91 Crore during Financial Year 2024-25.
As per latest progress report submitted by the State Government of
Maharashtra, expected date of completion of this project is 31.03.2028.As per the detailed project report submitted by the State Government of
Maharashtra, 800 direct jobs are projected in 10 years from the completion of
the project.
This Ministry regularly monitors progress of its ongoing projects through
review meetings with SGs/UTAs, which are held at various levels from time to
time where issued/obstacles if any faced by State Governments are also
discussed and addressed.
