**Summary:**

(b) the details of the number of projects undertaken and completed under the
said scheme until now; and
(c) the details of the expenditure incurred in various projects under the said
scheme?

(a) to (c) The North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS)
was approved as a new Central Sector Scheme in 2017-18 and restructured into two
components viz. NESIDS (Roads) and NESIDS (Other Than Roads Infrastructure) in
2022-23.The broad objective of NESIDS-OTRI is to ensure focused development of
North Eastern Region by providing financial assistance to the eight North Eastern
States for projects leading to the creation of infrastructure for Primary and Secondary
Health Care, Primary and Secondary Education, Water Supply, Solid Waste
Management, Industrial Development, Civil Aviation, Sports, telecommunications
etc. Post restructuring of NESIDS into NESIDS (OTRI) and NESIDS (Roads), a total
of 25 projects costing Rs. 1976.58 crore have been sanctioned under NESIDS-OTRI
to the eight NE States. An overall expenditure of Rs. 446.76 crore has been incurred
against the aforesaid projects, which are at different stages of implementation.
