517. SHRI VARUN CHAUDHRY:
Will the Minister of PLANNING be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the number of districts which were selected under the Aspirational District scheme as most under developed at the time of inception of the programme, State wise;
(b) the details of the number of districts which have been transformed and have come out of the list of aspirational district list since 2018, State wise; and
(c) whether any survey has been conducted or is under consideration to add districts in the list of aspirational districts and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF STATISTICS AND PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION; MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF PLANNING AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE (RAO INDERJIT SINGH)
(a) NITI Aayog launched the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) in January 2018, wherein, 117 districts were identified as Aspirational Districts. However, due to non-participation of five Districts from the State of West Bengal only 112 districts across 26 States and 1 Union Territory were included under the ADP at the launch of Programme. 5 districts of West Bengal have recently been Page 1 of 4included under the ADP. The State/UT-wise list of Aspirational Districts is at Annexure.
(b) Under ADP 49 KPIs are being tracked. While substantial progress has been made by all Districts towards achieving this objective, no District has saturated all 49 KPIs and so no District has come out of Aspirational Districts Programme.
(c) No such survey has been conducted nor is any proposal currently under consideration to add Districts in the list of Aspirational Districts.
