Parliament Question: Senior Citizen Welfare Portal

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.3741 TO BE ANSWERED ON 12.08.2025 SENIOR CITIZEN WELFARE PORTAL 3741. SMT. APARAJITA SARANGI: SMT. MAHIMA KUMARI MEWAR: SMT. SMITA UDAY WAGH: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) the key features, objectives and expected outcomes of the “Ageing with Dignity” (AWD) initiative launched for the welfare of senior citizens in the country; (b) the manner in which the new Senior Citizen Welfare Portal (SCWP) ensure seamless access to all Government schemes and healthcare benefits social security particularly in the country including Maharashtra; (c) the details of the total number of targeted senior citizens who receive Aids and Assistive Devices under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana in the upcoming year, State and district-wise including Maharashtra, Jalgaon Lok Sabha Constituency; (d) whether the Government is implementing any programme to preserve traditional knowledge and intergenerational values through Government initiatives for senior citizens; and (e) if so, the details thereof and their impact in rural and aspirational districts like Jalgaon? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SHRI B.L.VERMA) (a): Under the overall theme of Ageing with Dignity, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment endeavors to create a society in which senior citizens live a healthy, happy, empowered, dignified and self-reliant life along with strong social and inter-generational bonding. The objective of this theme is to make society more inclusive, empathetic and compassionate towards the needs and issues of the senior citizens in the country. (b): The Senior Citizen Welfare Portal (SCWP) has been developed as an integrated digital platform to facilitate streamlined access to information, schemes, and services available for senior citizens across the country, including in the State of Maharashtra.e The Portal also provides information on the various schemes of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for senior citizens. The list of old age homes(state-wise/ district-wise), Regional Resource Training Centers, Mobile Medicare Units, Physiotherapy Clinics supported by Ministry and list of pensioner's associations(State-Wise) are available on the portal. The portal serves as a platform for providing job opportunities to the senior citizens through integration with National Career Service Portal, Ministry of Labour and Employment. (c):. Under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), aids and assistive devices are provided to senior citizens who suffer from age related infirmities to restore normalcy in their bodily functions. These aids and assistive devices are distributed in camp mode as well as through walk- in mode in 148 ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) centers (Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK)/ Regional Marketing Centres (RMC)/ ALIMCO Auxiliary Production Centers (AAPC)/ ALIMCO Authorized Sales & Repair Agency(AASRA)). Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India/ALIMCO) is the sole implementing agency under RVY which conducts the assessments of the beneficiaries and distribution of the aids and assistive devices. The details of beneficiaries state-wise and district-wise including the State of Maharashtra and Jalgaon Lok Sabha Constituency is at Annexure. Assessment Camps from 8/5/2015 to 16/5/2025 were organized at various places in Jalgaon Lok Sabha constituency. 5,872 senior citizens have been identified for receiving 36,467 physical aids and assistive living devices worth Rs. 4.99 Crores. (d) & (e): Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has taken several steps under which participation of all the three generations together has been organized to promote and preserve the inter-generational values. These include Walkathon held on International Day of Older person 2024, International Yoga Day 2025 and pledge taking for respecting and taking care of the senior citizens of the country. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with Ministry of AYUSH and Brahma Kumaris to preserve traditional knowledge and bridge the generation gap and foster dada-dadi/ nana-nani bonding with grandchildren in families. The objective of organizing such programs is to promote inter-generational values and boding between the generations throughout the country including Jalgaon district.Annexure Annexure to reply of
