Setting up of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Murshidabad

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has received any proposal for setting up
a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Murshidabad Lok Sabha Parliamentary
Constituency in West Bengal;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the present status of the same;
(c) whether the State Government has identified and allotted land for
the proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

27.07.2026 REGARDING “SETTING UP OF KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA IN
MURSHIDABAD”.
(a) to (d) Opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) is a continuous
process. KVs are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of
the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including
Defence & Para-Military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central
Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Central Institute of Higher
Learning (IHL) by providing a common programme of education
throughout the country. Proposals for opening of new KVs may be
sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India/State
Governments/ Union Territories Administrations, with commitment to
provide requisite extent of land, free of cost, and suitable rent-free
temporary accommodation for setting up a new KV, as per Kendriya
Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) norms. KVs are not opened on the criteria of
population/ area/ Parliamentary Constituency /District or State/UT.
At present, a total of 62 KVs, including one KV at Berhampore,
District Murshidabad, are functioning in the State of West Bengal. As per
information received from KVS, no feasible proposal for opening of a new
KV in Murshidabad Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency of West
Bengal has been received by KVS from the concerned State Government
/ district administration.
