SHRI OMPRAKASH BHUPALSINH ALIAS PAVAN RAJENIMBALKAR: Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has received demands from local public representatives for the establishment of new Sub-Post Offices due to the shortage of postal services in various areas of Dharashiv district of Maharashtra; (b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard so far; and (c) whether the Government has any proposal under consideration to establish new Sub-Post Offices in the said district and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR) (a) to (c) Yes, Sir. The demands for establishment of new post offices in various areas of Dharashiv district of Maharashtra have been received. Post offices have been opened in Terkheda and Itkur, while approved for opening in Sarola Bk. and Massa Kh. The requests for opening of post offices in nine other areas have not been found feasible as per departmental norms. ***** 1
