Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the total number of Siddha colleges in Tamil Nadu, district-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to establish a Siddha college in Karur district;
(c) if so, the details thereof including the timeline by which the college is likely to open;
and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) There are total 16 (sixteen) Siddha Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu. District-wise
details of Siddha colleges in Tamil Nadu is annexed as Annexure-I.
(b) to (d) Public Health being a State subject, the establishment of new Ayush colleges
including Siddha colleges in the State including Tamil Nadu comes under the purview
of respective State/UT Governments. Government of India implements
Centrally Sponsored Scheme namely, National Ayush Mission (NAM), under which
there is a provision of financial assistance for setting up of Ayush Educational
Institutions in the States where availability of Ayush teaching institutions is
inadequate. State/UT Governments may avail eligible financial assistance by
submitting the suitable proposals through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as per
the provision of NAM guidelines. Currently, there is no proposal.
