SPEED POST CENTRES

Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) the current number of Speed Post Centres operational across the country particularly Bihar,
State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the Government propose to set up new such centres;
(c) if so, the State-wise details thereof; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Presently there are 50 National Sorting Hubs (NSHs) & 211 Intra Circle Hubs (ICHs) which
process Speed Post articles in the country. 1 NSH & 10 ICHs are located in Bihar. The State/UT wise
details are at Annexure.
(b) There is no proposal for setting up more such centres at present.
(c) Does not arise in view of (b) above.
(d) The network of NSH & ICH has been set up across the country keeping in view the
operational requirements, which are reviewed from time to time. Presently, there is no such
requirement.
