Sports Infrastructure in Bargarh and Jharsuguda Districts

Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has any proposal to develop sports
infrastructure and training facilities in Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts
of Odisha;
(b) whether the Government has identified any potential sports
disciplines popular in the said districts such as athletics, kabaddi,
football, volleyball, archery, and traditional rural games for focused
promotion under the Khelo India scheme (KIS);
(c) whether there is any plan to establish a District Sports Complex, Mini
Stadiums or Sports Academies in western Odisha including the said
Districts;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the details of the funds allocated and released, for development of
sports infrastructure and youth engagement programmes in the said
districts during the last three years and the current year?

(a) to (e) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of
development of sports, including development of sports infrastructure
and training facilities, identifying potential sports disciplines popular in
the districts and traditional rural games, establishing District Sports
Complex, Mini Stadiums or Sports Academies and conducting youth

Governments. The Union Government supplements their efforts by
bridging critical gaps. The schemes of this Ministry are demand driven.
The proposals received from the State/ UT Government and other
eligible entities are considered for financial support, subject to their
completeness, technical feasibility and availability of funds under the
scheme. However, the details of Khelo India Centres (KIC), Khelo India
State Centres of Excellence (KISCE) and Khelo India Accredited
Academies (KIAA), along with sports disciplines covered under these
centres, across the country, including in Bargarh and Jharsuguda
districts of Odisha, are available in the public domain on the dashboard
of the Ministry at https://dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in.
Funds are allocated and released Scheme-wise and not State-wise in
this Ministry. The details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred
under various Sports and Youth Development Schemes of the Ministry
of Youth Affairs and Sports across the country, including in various
