STATUS OF 12-C RAILWAY OVERBRIDGE PROJECTS IN KIRARI, DELHI

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether proposed "12-C" railway-overbridge in Kirari Assembly constituency has been pending for
last 10-12 years, if so, reasons for delay and current status thereof;
(b) budget approved/spent for said project so far and timelines for commencement and completion of
project respectively;
(c) number of coordination meetings held with PWD, MCD, DDA and Railways and details of
decisions taken therein;
(d) whether any assessment/survey has been conducted to assess traffic and economic impact on 10
lakh population, if so, details thereof; and
(e) current status of Mundka railway-under bridge and action plan for a permanent solution?

(a) to (e): Sanctioning of works of Road over Bridge (ROB)/Road under Bridge (RUB) in lieu of Level
crossings (LCs) is a continuous and dynamic process of Indian Railway. Such works are prioritised and
taken up on the basis of its impact on safety in train operations, mobility of trains & impact for road
users and feasibility etc.
No. of ROBs/ RUBs constructed on Indian Railways during the period 2004-14 vis a vis 2014-
26 (Upto Jan’26) is as under:

2014-26 (Upto Jan’26) 14,024 Nos. ( including 14 Nos. of ROBs/ RUBs in the state of
Delhi)
As on 01.02.2026, 4,802 Nos. ROBs/ RUBs are sanctioned at cost of ₹ 1,14,196 Cr on Indian
Railways including 19 Nos. Road Over Bridge (ROB)/Road Under Bridge (RUB) are sanctioned at
cost of ₹ 719 Cr in State of Delhi which are at various stages of planning and execution.
§The construction of 4-lane ROB in lieu of LC No. 12 (Kirari crossing) has been included as part
of mega drain project of Delhi Government. An agreement has been reached as per which the work for
providing ROB at LC No 12 shall be executed by the state government.
Several site visits as well as other coordination meetings have been held between Railway,
MCD and PWD for early execution of project. Railway is extending all possible assistance for early
start of the project.
The work of Mundka Railway underpass was sanctioned on cost sharing basis at the cost of ₹
13.87 Cr. (Railway share ₹ 6.25 Cr. and the MCD share ₹ 7.62 Cr.). After construction, this RUB has
been handed over to MCD for maintenance. The under pass is operational and is being maintained by
MCD. A permanent pump for dewatering in case of waterlogging has been installed by MCD.
