An IIP Centre has been established at Atchutapuram SEZ, near Visakhapatnam, utilizing a built-up area of 477 sq. mtr. leased from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC). The Regional Head of IIP, Hyderabad, currently holds additional charge of IIP, Visakhapatnam. The centre has designed and conducted two short-term training courses on capacity building in packaging technology. As the existing SEZ infrastructure was utilized, no specific funds were allocated, released, or utilized for the establishment of this centre. Currently, there are no proposals under consideration for the expansion or strengthening of the IIP Visakhapatnam Centre.

Will the Minister of COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री) be pleased to
state:
(a) whether the Government has established or proposed to establish a Centre of the Indian
Institute of Packaging (IIP) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and if so, the details
thereof including the date of sanction and approvals;
(b) the current status of infrastructure development, staffing and the operationalisation of the
IIP Centre in Visakhapatnam;
(c) the total funds allocated, released and utilised for this Centre since its inception, year-
wise;
(d) the key activities, research, training and industry support services undertaken by this
Centre so far, if operational; and
(e) whether any proposals for expansion or strengthening of the IIP Vizag Centre are
currently under consideration and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) Indian Institute of Packaging Centre at Atchutapuram SEZ, near Visakhapatnam was
established on a space with built up area of 477 sq. mtr. leased by Andhra Pradesh Industrial
Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC)
Regional Head, IIP, Hyderabad is holding the additional charge of IIP, Visakhapatnam and short-
term training courses on capacity building on packaging technology have been designed.
As the existing SEZ infrastructure was utilised for IIP Visakhapatnam centre, so there was no
requirement of funds.
Two programmes on capacity building on packaging technology have been conducted by IIP.
No proposal for expansion of the IIP Vizag Centre is currently under consideration.
