STATUS OF METRO PROJECTS
NO. 1054. SHRI PRABHAKAR REDDY VEMIREDDY:
Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the details regarding the status of metro rail projects across the country
including those proposed, under construction and presently operational,
project and State-wise, particularly for Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the details of the funds allocated, sanctioned, released and utilised for
construction, maintenance and upgradation of metro rail projects across
the country during the last five years, project and State-wise, particularly
in Andhra Pradesh;
(c) the details regarding the annual passenger footfall and revenue generated
by each operational metro rail projects in the country during the last five
years;
(d) whether any timelines have been fixed for completion of pending metro
rail projects, especially those delayed by more than five years; and
(e) if so, the details of the expected dates of completion and the measures
undertaken by the Government to expedite execution and ensure timely
completion, project-wise?

(a) The details regarding the status of operational and under
construction metro rail projects across the country are as per Annexure –
I.
(b) An amount of Rs. 84.48 lakh has been released for the preparation
of Comprehensive Mobility Plan for the cities of Andhra Pradesh in 2025.
Further, the details of the funds released for implementation of Metro rail
projects across the country are as per Annexure-II.
(c) The details of the average daily ridership and revenues generated by
Metro Rail Projects under this Ministry are as per Annexure- III & Annexure
– IIIA respectively.

(d) & (e) High Powered Committee chaired by Chief Secretary of the
concerned reviews the Metro Project to take expeditious decisions on
matters for ensuring timely completion of metro projects. In addition to
the above, it is informed that most of the metro rail projects are
implemented by Joint Venture Special Purpose Vehicle (SPVs) which are
companies with representation in the Board both from Central and State
Governments. The progress of these projects is monitored by the Board of
the SPVs constituted for the purpose. Further progress of the metro
projects are reviewed under Pro-Active Governance and Timely
Implementation (PRAGATI), Project Monitoring Group (PMG) by the Central
Government.
