BANSURI SWARAJ: SHRI VISHNU DAYAL RAM: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS to pleased to state: (a) the present status and the physical progress of metro rail projects sanctioned and under implementation across the country as on June 2026, State/UT and project -wise; (b) the details of financial assistance provided by the Union Government to States and implementing agencies for metro rail expansion; (c) whether any new cities or corridors have been approved under ongoing metro rail expansion proposals and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the impact of metro rail expansion on urban mobility, congestion reduction and last-mile connectivity in major cities? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a): At present, about 1159 km of metro rail network including RRTS is operational in 26 cities across the country. Further, the details of metro rail projects along with physical progress are as per Annexure – I.
