GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 755 TO BE ANSWERED ON JULY 23, 2026 STATUS OF PROJECTS UNDER AMRUT 2.0 IN RAJASTHAN NO. 755 SHRI HANUMAN BENIWAL: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether it has come to the notice of the Government that several projects relating to drinking water supply, sewerage, rejuvenation of water bodies and green space development sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 in various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Rajasthan have not been completed within the stipulated time and if so, the reasons therefor; (b) the details of the Central assistance sanctioned, released, utilised and currently pending for Rajasthan under the said mission, year and ULB-wise; and (c) whether the Government is aware that citizens are facing severe inconvenience due to excessive delay in works related to drinking water pipelines, sewerage networks and road excavations in many cities of Rajasthan and if so, the details thereof along with the action taken to investigate the causes of these delays and fix the accountability of the concerned agencies? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) to (c): Under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, States/ Union Territories are empowered to select, appraise, prioritise and implement the projects. Under AMRUT 2.0, the State of Rajasthan has taken up 363 projects worth ₹11,560.07 crore (including operation and maintenance cost), which includes Central Assistance (CA) of ₹3,552 crore. The approved projects include 178 water supply projects worth ₹5099.47 crore, 48 sewerage and septage management projects worth ₹5950.85 crore, 134 water body rejuvenation projects worth ₹505.41 crore and 3 parks and green space projects worth ₹4.33 crore. …2/--2- Central share of funds under AMRUT 2.0 are released to the States/ UTs and not Urban Local Body (ULB)-wise. The State further distribute the funds to the ULBs as per progress of the projects. Up to the Financial Year (FY) 2025–26, CA amounting to ₹745.12 crore was released for AMRUT 2.0 projects to the State of Rajasthan. During the current year (FY 2026-27), Mother Sanction for ₹250 crore has been released for projects of which ₹104.44 crore has been utilised as on 20.07.2026. The projects under AMRUT 2.0 are implemented by the States/ UTs. The State has informed that 109 water supply projects of ₹1428.90 crore, 42 sewerage and septage management projects of ₹4656.80 crore and 129 water body rejuvenation projects of ₹443.86 crore have been awarded. As informed by the State, there have been some issues faced during the execution of projects such as delay in allotment of land/ area due to Court Cases/ local public hinderances; delay in receiving permission from various departments as Forest/ National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)/ Railway/ Public Works Department (PWD) etc.; delay in execution due to imposition of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in National Capital Region (NCR) cities; ban on construction work by the High Court, etc. The State Government has also informed that it is aware of the temporary inconvenience during the execution of works, including road excavation. The progress of these works is regularly reviewed, and necessary efforts have been made to remove the hindrances affecting their execution. The concerned agencies have been directed to expedite the works and restore the roads after completion. *****
