GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.5005 ANSWERED ON 23.03.2026 STATUS OF PROJECTS UNDER HRIDAY IN TELANGANA 5005. DR. MALLU RAVI: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware that projects sanctioned under the National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) in Telangana, particularly in Warangal, have remained incomplete even after the scheme officially ended in March 2019; (b) whether it is a fact that out of an allocation of about Rs. 40.54 crore for Warangal, only around Rs. 29.70 crore has been utilised so far, leaving significant heritage infrastructure works unfinished; (c) the reasons for delays, including coordination failures between the Centre, State and Urban Local Bodies; (d) whether the Government has assessed the impact of incomplete HRIDAY works on heritage conservation and tourism potential in Warangal; (e) whether any accountability has been fixed for delayed execution and under-utilisation of funds; and (f) the details of steps proposed to complete pending works or provide alternative central assistance for heritage development in Telangana? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (f): The Ministry of Tourism is not operating the Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) scheme. National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) was launched on 21 January, 2015. The mission has ended on 31 March, 2019 and its Heritage component has been merged in the scheme "National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)" under Ministry of Tourism.The Ministry of Tourism under the “Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive” (PRASHAD) Scheme provides financial assistance to the State Governments (SGs) and UT Administrations (UTs) for development of tourism related infrastructure at identified religious and heritage sites across the country, including the State of Telangana.
