Parliament Question: Status of proposed seaplane services in Goa

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 2580 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 16th March 2026 STATUS OF PROPOSED SEAPLANE SERVICES IN GOA 2580. SHRI SADANAND MHALU SHET TANAVADE Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether technical, hydrographic and economic feasibility surveys, including Environmental Impact Assessments and Detailed Project Reports, have been conducted for proposed seaplane operations in Goa and if so, the key findings thereof; (b) whether any budgetary allocations or financial assistance have been provided or proposed for seaplane projects or services in Goa and if so, the details thereof; and (c) the present status of the proposed seaplane project in Goa, including regulatory approvals obtained, consultations held with local stakeholders and the readiness of identified water aerodrome sites? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (c): Ministry of Civil Aviation introduced seaplane operations from water aerodromes under the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik 3.0 (RCS-UDAN 3.0). In Goa, two locations, namely, North Goa and South Goa were identified for development of water aerodromes to enable seaplane services. An amount of Rs.100 crore has been allocated under the Revival & Development of Aerodromes scheme of the Government of India for the development of 26 water aerodromes across the country including North Goa and South Goa. Under the UDAN 4.2 round of bidding, the seaplane routes South Goa-Goa and North Goa- Goa were awarded to SAR Aviation. However, these routes have since been cancelled due to the non-readiness of the operator and infrastructure. ******
