GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL EDUCATION & LITERACY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO:- 3728 ANSWERED ON-25/03/2026 Status of vacancies in NCTE 3728 Shri Javed Ali Khan: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) whether Government has advertised vacancies in National Council for Teachers' Education (NCTE) after withdrawal of directions of Department of School Education and Literacy during the meeting on NEP, 2020 to stop recruitment in NCTE; (b) if so, the details of advertisements issued and recruitment done against permanent posts in NCTE during last eight months; (c) if no recruitment has been done so far, the reasons therefor; and (d) by when all vacancies in NCTE are likely to be filled up with permanent posts? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) to (d): The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan Bill, 2025 has been introduced in Parliament, vide which NCTE, among other organisations, is proposed to be subsumed into a single regulatory body. It would be appropriate to assess the requirement of direct recruitment after the formation of the new organisation. *****
