Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION be
pleased to state:
(a) whether warehouses/storage units are being established in rural areas for the storage of agricultural produce under the Food Consumer Infrastructure and Agriculture Marketing Scheme;
(b) if so, the details of the total number of rural storage warehouses sanctioned and constructed under the said scheme in the districts of Etah, Kasganj, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Auraiya and Ac>nIa
(Bareilly) during the last three years, year-wise;
(C) the details of storage capacity (in metric tons) constructed/created in the said districts;
(d) the details of the total amount of funds spent on these projects, district-wise and yearwise;
(e) whether the Government proposes to approve additional projects in the future to increase storage capacity in the said districts; and
(f) if so, the details thereoP ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD & PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION (SHRIMATI NIMUBEN JAYANTIBHAI BAMBHANIYA)
(a): Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) is augmenting its storage capacity by creating capacities under following schemes through Food Corporation of India (FCI) :
1. Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee (PEG) Schemes
2. Central Sector Scheme โStorage & Godown', Focus on NE States
3. Asset Monetization Scheme
4. Construction of Silos under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode In addition to the above, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmersโ Welfare(MoAFW), has been implementing capital subsidy scheme, Rural Godown Scheme (RGS) for creation of scientific Storage capacity since 01.04.2001 and Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure Grading & Standardization (AMIGS) since 20.10.2004 for creation of other than storage agricultural marketing infrastructure. Both the sche;mes have been subsumed as โAgricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI)โ sub-scheme oflntegrated Scheme for Agricultural Marketing (ISAM) since 01,04.2014, and is implemented across the country including rural areas through its attached office, Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI).

(b) to (d): The sanctioned capacities under the Department of Food & PD, under various schemes of

As these schemes are being run in PPP Mode, no fund is upfront spent on these projects.
By the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmersโ Welfare, the year-wise details of the total number of rural storage warehouses sanctioned and constructed under the scheme in the districts of Etah, Kasganj, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Auraiya and Aonla (Bareilly) during the last three years is as under:

(e) & (f): The requirement of Storage capacity in FCI depends upon the level of procurement, requirement of buffer norms and PDS operations for Rice and Wheat mainly. FCI continuously assesses and monitors the storage capacity and based on the storage gap assessment, storage capacities are created/hired as per the requirement.
As regards MoAFW, AMI is a demand driven scheme, however, the allocated budget under scheme, has been fully utilized, and no further funds are available. Hence, the implementation of AMI Sub Scheme of ISAM has been kept in abeyance with effect from 10.06.2025.
