(a) whether the Government is aware of the increasing stray dog attacks villages of Warangal
particularly near Rampur in Telangana;
(b) the details of sterilization and vaccination drives for stray animals conducted by the Government
in Warangal 2024-25;
(c) the funds allocated for building animal shelters in Warangal under the Animal Welfare Board in
the district; and
(d) whether the Government will support community-led initiatives to manage stray cattle in
Warangal's urban areas and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Local bodies are mandated to control the stray dog population. As per reports received from
the State Government of Telangana and the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, no
incidents of stray dog attacks have been recorded in Rampur.
(b) According to information provided by the Government of Telangana, the Greater Warangal
Municipal Corporation is implementing an Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies
Vaccination (ARV) programme at the Animal Birth Control Centre, Chinthagattu, Warangal.
During the year 2024–25, a total of 6,154 stray dogs were sterilized and vaccinated.
(c) The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) provides financial assistance under the “Scheme
for Shelter House for Looking After Animals” to recognised Animal Welfare Organisations
upon receipt of their applications. However, no application has been received from any Animal
Welfare Organisation based in Warangal. Consequently, no grant has been released for
establishing an animal shelter in the area.(d) As per Article 243W of the Constitution, the management of stray animals falls under the
mandate of urban local bodies. Nevertheless, the Animal Welfare Board of India extends
financial assistance to recognised animal welfare organisations for establishing shelters. As
reported by the State Government of Telangana, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation
is managing urban stray cattle by relocating them to Goshalas operated by individuals,
societies, or trusts, including:
