GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF POWER LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.814 ANSWERED ON 23.07.2026 STRENGTHENING ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE 814. DR. KIRSAN NAMDEO: Will the Minister of POWER be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has undertaken or proposes to undertake projects for strengthening the electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure, including construction of new substations and upgradation of power lines in the Gadchiroli-Chimur Parliamentary Constituency, considering the growing industrial, mining and rural electrification requirements; (b) if so, the details of such projects including their estimated cost, the timeline for completion and the present status thereof; and (c) the steps taken to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to remote and tribal villages in the constituency particularly in naxal-affected areas? A N S W E R THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD NAIK) (a) to (c): (i) As reported by the State Government of Maharashtra, 10 year Long-Term Plan (2026-27 to 2035–36) includes projects for strengthening the Intra-State transmission System (InSTS) infrastructure in the Gadchiroli–Chimur Parliamentary Constituency. The proposed projects particularly in Sironcha, Hedri, Illur (Ashti), Etapalli, Allapalli, and Konsari areas, ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to remote and tribal villages. The details of under implementation InSTS projects are enclosed in Annexure. ……….2.- 2 - (ii) System Strengthening works under Maharashtra Power Distribution Enhancement Program (MPDEP) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) with an estimated cost of ₹ 76.47 crore and the 66 kV Level Elimination Scheme (special scheme) with an estimated cost of ₹ 11.28 crore are also under implementation in the Gadchiroli–Chimur Parliamentary Constituency. (iii) Presently, under Inter State Transmission System (ISTS), High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) project for evacuation of RE from Khavda Area to Nagpur, at an anticipated cost of ₹24,819 crore with Schedule Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) as May 2029, is under implementation. The project shall facilitate the drawl of Power for meeting the load requirement of Maharashtra, including nearby Chimur / Gadchiroli area.
