Parliament Question: Strengthening of Ayush services in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh

Maya Naroliya: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) whether the Ministry has taken any initiative under the National Ayush Mission (NAM) for the coordination and strengthening of Ayush centers in the rural healthcare system; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether any mechanism or process has been established for the training and capacity building of Ayush practitioners so that they can be deployed in underserved and tribal districts, particularly in Madhya Pradesh; and (d) the impact of these initiatives on coverage of service and numbers of patients, particularly in the State of Madhya Pradesh and at the national level? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) & (b) Public Health being State subject, strengthening of Ayush centers in the rural healthcare system in the country comes under purview of respective State/UT Governments. However, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), Ministry of Ayush has approved 12500 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [AAM (Ayush)] erstwhile known as Ayush Health and Wellness Centres by upgrading existing Ayush Dispensaries/Sub Health Centres as per the proposals received through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) from States/UTs for providing holistic healthcare to the community through different Ayush interventions in rural area. The State/UT-wise status of approved AAM (Ayush) is furnished at Annexure. (c) & (d) Ministry of Ayush is implementing Central Sector Scheme of Ayurgyan since 2021- 22 wherein Capacity Building & Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Ayush is one of the components. The overall objective of the CME component is to encourage Ayush personnel to undergo need-based professional training and bridge the knowledge gaps. Being the Central Sector Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the eligible organizations across the country for conducting training programmes. 1State Government of Madhya Pradesh has informed that they have also conducted training and capacity building for Ayush practitioners time to time through offline/ online mode and resultantly the number of beneficiary/patients increased from 6 lakhs in year 2010- 11 to 147 lakhs in years 2024-25.
