Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING be pleased

to state:

(a) the details of milk production and per capita milk availability in the country during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(b) the names of the schemes implemented by the Government to increase the income of dairy farmers and the expenditure incurred thereon during the last three years, State- wise;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen dairy infrastructure, cold chain, milk processing units and cooperative milk societies; and

(d) whether the Government has any proposal to implement any new scheme for prevention of animal diseases, to provide quality animal feed and to expand artificial insemination facilities and if so, the details thereof? (a) State/UT wise milk production and per capita availability during 2022-23 to 2024- 25 is at Annexure-I.

(b) The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, is implementing following schemes across the country to complement and supplement the efforts of State Governments in strengthening animal husbandry and dairy

infrastructure:

1. Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM)

2. National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD)

3. Supporting Dairy Cooperatives & Farmer Producer Organisations engaged in dairy activities (SDCFPO)

4. Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF)

5. National Livestock Mission (NLM)

6. Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP) These schemes aim at improving milk productivity of bovines, expanding the network of dairy cooperatives, strengthening dairy infrastructure, meeting working capital requirements, enhancing the availability of feed and fodder, and providing animal health services. These interventions help reduce the cost of milk production, and enhance the income of milk producers.

The State-wise releases made under these schemes during last three years is given at Annexure-II.

(c) As of June 2026, under White Revolution 2.0, 36,611 new Dairy Cooperative Societies

(DCS) have been organised and 34,557 DCS strengthened at the village level with financial assistance from NPDD. About 168 lakh litres per day (LLPD) of milk chilling capacity has been created, and 76,748 quality testing devices distributed. Under AHIDF, projects with a total milk processing and value‑addition capacity of 418 LLPD have been approved in both cooperative and private sectors.

(d) The ongoing schemes adequately cover the prevention and control of animal diseases, provision of quality animal feed, and expansion of artificial insemination facilities.
