Shri Zia Ur Rehman: Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has taken any steps to strengthen rural infrastructure through schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY); and (b) if so, the details and status of all-weather road connectivity to rural habitations? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN) (a) & (b): The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a flagship intervention of the Government of India aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure by providing all-weather road connectivity to eligible unconnected habitations and consolidating the existing rural road network across the country in accordance with the programme guidelines. The implementation of the scheme has significantly enhanced rural accessibility, socio-economic integration, and the overall rural economy. Since inception, a total of 7, 97,000 Km of road length has been constructed, connecting 1,62,836 eligible habitations with a cumulative expenditure of ₹3,56,619 crore across various verticals of the programme.
