Ms. Swati Maliwal: Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state: (a) number of students enrolled in Delhi University during the last three years, college-wise, year- wise, including a gender-wise breakup; (b) total number of hostels available for students in Delhi University, along with their capacity and actual occupancy, college-wise and hostel-wise and gender-wise; (c) number of new hostels constructed in the last three years and number of proposals pending for the construction of additional hostels, details of each proposal; and (d) measures taken to ensure adequate hostel accommodation for students and whether any plan exists to expand or modernize existing hostel facilities and if so, the details thereof? SWATI MALIWAL, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMNET REGARDING STUDENT HOSTEL FACILITIES IN DELHI UNIVERSITY. (a) to (d): University of Delhi is a statutory autonomous organization established under an Act of Parliament and governed by the Delhi University Act, 1922 and the Statutes and the Ordinances made thereunder. DU provides quality and affordable education to the students from all over the country with its colleges spread out all across the Delhi NCR region through its multidisciplinary curriculum in UG, PG, PhD and diploma courses. The NIRF ranking of the university is 5th amongst the educational institutions within the country: the University has achieved QS ranking of 328 (globally) in 2025/26. The University has constructed hostel accommodations from time to time to cater to the students. The Central Government is providing fund from Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) from the year 2017-18 for development of university infrastructure including construction of hostels. In the year 2023, an amount of Rs 938.33 crore has been approved to University of Delhi for infrastructural projects including construction of Building for student’s accommodation. ****
