Parliament Question: Supply of Milk in Delhi

SHRI RAMVIR SINGH BIDHURI: Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the daily demand for milk in Delhi; (b) the steps taken by the Government to supply milk in Delhi and maintain the standard of milk supplied; and (c) whether the Government has any plan for increasing supply in Delhi in the near future? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) & (b) As per the Study on Demand of Milk and Milk Products in India, conducted under National Dairy Plan Phase-I (NDP-I) in the year 2019, the demand for milk in Delhi is estimated at approximately 111 Lakh Litres Per Day in 2019. As per the Study, the Projected Household Demand in the year 2030 is 173.5 LLPD. Delhi’s milk requirement is met by Delhi Mother Dairy, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF – Amul), Delhi Milk Scheme (DMS), Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation Ltd. (COMFED), Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. (KMF), and the Private Dairies in compliance to the food safety standards set and monitored by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
