TECHNICAL COURSES IN TTI

Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased
to state?
(a) whether technical courses are still being offered in the Technical Training Institute
(TTI) in Daman;
(b) if so, the details of such courses being offered therein;
(c) if not, the reasons for discontinuation of these courses along with the details of the
authority on whose instructions these courses have been discontinued;
(d) whether any order/notification/publication had been issued in this regard and if so,
the details thereof;
(e) the number of students in the last batch that passed out from the above institute;
(f) the details of the work being done at present by the staff members recruited for the
said TTI; and
(g) whether there is any plan to restart these courses and if so, the details thereof and if
not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (g): Sir, The Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Daman falls under the jurisdiction of
the Union Territory Administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. As per
information received from the Office of Higher & Technical Education, Dadra and Nagar
Haveli and Daman and Diu, the TTI was merged with the Government Industrial Training
Institute (ITI) in 2020, with the approval of the competent authority.
This decision was taken by the UT Administration due to low enrolment of students and
underutilization of resources, like faculty, machinery, and equipment in the institute.
Further, in the last batch, of the erstwhile TTI, in the Pre-Vocational stream, 121 students
graduated out of a capacity of 300, and in the Vocational stream, 12 students graduated out
of a capacity of 60.The Higher & Technical Education, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu has stated
that all former TTI staff have been reassigned to Government Industrial Training Institutes,
Government Polytechnic, and Government Engineering College within the Union Territory
based on their qualifications.
No courses are now being offered in TTI, as similar courses are being offered at the
Government Industrial Training Institute in Daman. It is further stated by the UT of Dadra
and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu that, they have a range of technical education
institutions, including four Government ITIs, three Polytechnics, and one Government
Engineering College, providing a diverse selection of industry-specific technical courses to
address the skilling and technical education requirements of the area.
