TOURISM DEVELOPMENT UNDER SDS-2.0 IN SHAHDOL
56. SMT. HIMADRI SINGH:
Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of tourist destinations or circuits identified in the
Shahdol Lok Sabha Constituency including Shahdol, Anuppur, and Umaria
districts under the Swadesh Darshan-2.0 scheme (SDS-2.0);
(b) the details of funds sanctioned, released, and utilized for upgrading
tourism infrastructure and last-mile connectivity at key regional sites
like Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Amarkantak during the last three
years; and
(c) the details of the specific steps taken by the Government under the said
scheme to promote sustainable tribal eco-tourism and generate local
employment for youth in the said constituency?
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (c): Development and promotion of tourism destinations and products
is primarily undertaken by the concerned State Government (SG)/Union
Territory Administration (UTA). However, the Ministry of Tourism through its
central sector schemes of ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based
Destination Development (CBDD)’, a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan scheme
and ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive
(PRASHAD)’ scheme complements the efforts of tourism infrastructure
development in the country by extending financial assistance to the SGs/UTAs
in synergy with the scheme guidelines, receipt of the project proposals from
the concerned State Government/Union Territory Administrations, availability
of funds etc.
In addition, Government of India under its ‘Special Assistance to States
for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres toGlobal Scale’ sanctioned 40 projects in 23 States for Rs.3295.76 Crore in the
country including Madhya Pradesh in Financial Year 2024-25, with the primary
objective to comprehensively develop iconic tourist centres in the country,
branding and marketing them at global scale.
Ministry of Tourism has issued guidelines to develop tribal homestays
under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) in tribal areas
of the country. The said interventions include development of 1000 homestays
with the support of upto Rs.5.00 Lakh per unit for new construction, upto
Rs.3.00 Lakh for renovation and Rs.5.00 Lakh for village community
requirements. Accordingly, this Ministry has sanctioned Rs.5.00 Crore for
Development of Tribal Homestays in Karanjiya cluster, Dindori District and
Pushparajgarh cluster, Anupur district located under Shahdol Lok Sabha
Constituency, Madhya Pradesh under the DA-JGUA scheme during Financial
Year 2025-26.
The details of the sanctioned projects in Madhyra Pradesh including in
the Anuppur, and Umaria districts under SD, SD2.0, CBDD, SASCI and PRASHAD
scheme including funds authorized for utilization is annexed.
Further, under these schemes, Ministry of Tourism also encourages the
SGs/UTAs to consult local communities, adopt sustainable tourism practices,
digitization and envisage to create employment for local population.
