GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.2374 ANSWERED ON 03.08.2026 TOURISM SKILLING IN DAKSHINA KANNADA 2374. SHRI CAPTAIN BRIJESH CHOWTA: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) the details of tourism and hospitality skilling programmes implemented in Dakshina Kannada during the last three years; (b) the details of institutions, courses, trainees certified and placement or self-employment outcomes; (c) whether training has covered guides, homestays, water-sports, food services and other locally relevant occupations; and (d) the details of plan to expand demand-linked tourism skilling in the said district? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (d): The Ministry of Tourism conducts hospitality and tourism related short-term training certificate courses for skilling, up skilling and re skilling under its “Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP)” scheme through Government institutes and empanelled private institutes including Institute of Hotel Management, Food Craft Institutes, Indian Culinary Institute, etc. These demand–linked tourism and hospitality skilling training courses, inter-alia include, Hunar Se Rozgar Tak, Entrepreneurship Programme, Skill Testing & Certification, Tourism Awareness Programme. These courses are envisaged to enhance the employability of candidates in diverse professions like guiding, homestays, water-sports, food services and other locally relevant occupations. Efforts are undertaken to enhance the coverage of CBSP scheme by expanding/revising the curriculum, adding tourist destination as per the industry need across the country.
