TRANSFER OF SALT LAND IN ODISHA

Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state:

(a) the details of compensation paid to lease-holders and tender-allottees as per
the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) order dated
03.02.2025 which transferred 6718.91 acres of Salt Land in Odisha to the Ministry of
Ports, Shipping and Waterways, lease-holders and tender-allottees wise; and
(b) the details of developmental activities undertaken by Ministry of Ports,
Shipping and Waterways in respect of 6718.91 acres of Salt Land in Odisha?

(a) As per the Internal Policy Guidelines 2024 of Department for Promotion of
Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the transferee agency shall pay the compensation
to the lessees, if any, for extinguishing the lease hold rights and meeting the cost of
rehabilitation of the salt workers. The in-principle approval of DPIIT for transfer of Salt
Land to the Ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways has been received. However,
the ownership of 6718.91 acres of Salt land in Odisha vests with the Salt Department
as on date.
(b) The survey and demarcation of land is being undertaken by the Salt
Commissioner's Office and Paradip Port Authority in coordination with the local District
Authorities.
