This is an answer to the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 88 on the Trichy Bypass, answered on January 29th, 2026, by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari. The question inquired about the status of the proposed 4-lane access-controlled Trichy Bypass, including a 3 km elevated corridor at Panjappur in Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu. Consultancy services for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project have been awarded. Approval of the project is based on the outcome of the DPR, traffic density, and synergy with the principles of the PM-Gati-Shakti National Master Plan and the Government of Tamil Nadu, incorporating the bypass in the Development plan and following urban decongestion policy conditions. A traffic management plan during construction will be incorporated in the project proposal.
