TUNGSTEN AND LITHIUM RESERVES
†561. Shri Hanuman Beniwal:
Will the Minister of MINES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the tungsten and lithium reserves in the Rewant Hill and other areas of
the Degana region in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan are among the country's
strategically important mineral resources;
(b) if so, the details of action that has been taken so far to restart mining operations
in the tungsten mines located in these areas and the current status thereon;
(c) whether the Government awarded a mining lease/exploration license/auction to
any public or private entity to start mining in the said areas, if so, the details thereof
along with the timeframe and proposed investment; and
(d) if the Degana tungsten project has not yet started, the main reasons therefor and
the details of likely timeframe the Government has set for starting it?

(a) to (d): The RAMB Degana Tungsten, Lithium and Associated Mineral Block,
Nagaur, Rajasthan was put up for auction for the grant of a Mining Lease by the
Government of India in two tranches, first in Tranche-6 & as a second attempt in
Tranche-7. However, on both occasions, no responsive bid was received and auction
of the block was annulled.
