Will the Minister of Rural Development be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Department of Land Resources has taken cognizance of any representation seeking the establishment of a Unified Centralized Monitoring System to identify, monitor and remove encroachments on Central Government land across all States, irrespective of the administrative control of such land, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether it is a fact that encroachments on Central Government properties exist in various States; and
(c) if so, the State-wise details thereof and the steps taken by Government, in coordination with the concerned State Governments, to remove such encroachments? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN MINSTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. CHANDRA SEKHAR PEMMASANI)
(a) The Government Land Information System (GLIS) under Land and Development Office (L&DO), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) maintains a GIS-based inventory of Central Government land, but it presently does not contain data relating to encroachments.
(b) & (c) The Department of Land Resources does not maintain data regarding encroachments on Central Government land across States. In respect of encroachments on leased land administered by the Land & Development Office (L&DO), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in urban areas of Delhi, appropriate action is taken by them. Further, in cases of encroachments on specific vacant Central Government land parcels under the jurisdiction of L&DO in other States, necessary action is undertaken by the Central Public Works Department
(CPWD). ******
