Unified Pension Scheme
218. SHRI HASMUKHBHAI SOMABHAI PATEL
Will the Minister of Finance be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of retired Central Government subscribers eligible to claim additional
benefits under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS);
(b) the number of claims received and processed so far under the UPS since its introduction;
(c) whether the Government has plans to extend similar benefits to other pension schemes or
sectors in the near future; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) There are 25,756 retired Central Government subscribers eligible to receive additional benefits
under Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
(b) As on 9th July, 2026, 12,258 claims have been received and out of which 9,823 claims have
been processed for payment of benefits under UPS.
(c) & (d) UPS has been introduced as an option under National Pension System (NPS) for the
employees of Central Government who are covered under the NPS. There is no proposal under
consideration to extend such benefits to other pension schemes or sectors.
