This policy addresses the proposed upgrade of Arebetta Railway Station and infrastructure improvements within the Sakaleshpur and Subramanya Road section of the South Western Railway (SWR). The Ministry of Railways confirms the decision to develop Arebetta Railway Station into a 2:2 crossing station, with the Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company Limited (HMRDCL) bearing the development costs. To enhance safety and mitigate landslide risks in the Sakaleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat section, measures including slope flattening, rockfall barriers, boulder netting, Gabion walls, and improved side drains have been implemented. Railway electrification has been completed on the Subrahamanya Road to Shiribagilu (14 RKm) and Sakleshpur to Donigal (9 RKm) sections. Electrification work is ongoing in the remaining Shiribagilu-Donigal section (32 RKm) of the Sakaleshpur to Subrahmanya Road route (55 RKm). Completion of the electrification project is subject to various factors, including forest clearances, utility relocation, statutory approvals, geological conditions, law and order, and climate-related limitations on working months.
