Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of AYUSH Hospitals, Wellness centres and Dispensaries in the State of
Odisha, particularly in aspirational/tribal districts Kalahandi and Nuapada of Kalahandi
Lok Sabha Constituency of the State;
(b) whether there is any plans of the Government to upgrade existing AYUSH dispensaries
Kendras into 30 bed district hospitals under the National AYUSH Mission and if so, the
details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the steps being taken by the Government to address shortages of doctors, pharmacists and
therapists in AYUSH facilities across rural and tribal areas of the country?

(a) The status of Ayush Hospitals, Wellness centers and Dispensaries in the State of
Odisha, particularly in aspirational/tribal districts Kalahandi and Nuapada of Kalahandi Lok
Sabha Constituency of the State as reported by the State is furnished at Annexure I (a) and
The list of AAM(Ayush) erstwhile known as Ayush Health and Wellness Centres in
districts of Kalahandi district and Nuapada district and their current status I(b) respectively.
(b) Ministry of Ayush is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush
Mission for overall development & promotion of Ayush system in the country by providing
financial assistance to them for different activities proposed through State Annual Action
Plans (SAAPs) submitted by them as per the existing provisions of NAM guidelines.
Mission inter-alia makes provision for following activities:
(i) Operationalization of Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) by upgrading existing Ayush

(c) The primary responsibility to address shortages of doctors, pharmacists and therapists in
Ayush facilities across rural and tribal areas of the country comes under the purview of
respective State/UT Governments as Public health is a State subject. However, under
Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), the components for
setting up to 50/30/10 bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals, upgradation of exclusive
standalone Ayush Hospitals inter-alia are having provision for contractual deployment of
Ayush Doctors, pharmacists and therapists. In this regard, State/UT Governments are
required to submit their proposals through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as per the
guidelines of the scheme.
