**Summary:**
This document summarizes the Indian government's response to a parliamentary question (Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 4343) regarding the modernization and upgradation of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Employees Hospital in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy).
The Ministry of Heavy Industries acknowledges a longstanding demand for improvements to the hospital from BHEL employees and residents of the BHEL Township. The response outlines that BHEL Trichy addresses hospital service improvements through a Hospital Apex Committee, comprising union and management representatives, which convenes periodically to determine priorities.
As of August 19, 2025, the BHEL Trichy hospital staffing includes 54 doctors (regular and visiting consultants) and 257 paramedical and other personnel. The hospital offers services in Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Radiology, Obstetrics Gynecology, and Pediatrics, supported by essential medical equipment and infrastructure. For specialized medical requirements exceeding the hospital's capabilities, BHEL Trichy has agreements with 16 empanelled hospitals providing services in Cardiology, Neurology, Spinal Injuries, Dialysis, Orthopedics, NeoNatal care, and Cancer treatment.
The Ministry states that need-based annual funding is allocated to meet the healthcare requirements of BHEL employees. Specific details regarding planned timelines and the scope of future upgrades were not provided, but such decisions are determined by the Hospital Apex Committee.
