Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AI\D EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Govemment has taken any steps to construct new OBC hostels or to upgrade existing
OBC hostels in Uttar Pradeslu especially in Aonla, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Etah and Kasgaqi
districts;
(b) the number ofOBC hostels sanctioned, constructed and are cunently functional in such districts,
along with details of accommodating capacity and present occupancy status thereof;
(c) whether any proposal regarding establishment of new OBC hostels or expansion of existing
hostels is currently under consideration of the Govemment in Aonl4 Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Etah
and Kasganj districts; and
(d) the details of the funds allocated, released, and spent for the consfuctiorq renovation, and
maintenance ofOBC hostels in these lost districts during the last five years?

(a) to (c): No proposal regarding establishment of new OBC hostels or expansion of existing
hostels is pending as per the scheme guidelines for Aonl4 Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Etah and Iksganj
disticts of Uttar Pradesh. As per the scheme guidelines, it shall be the responsibility of Management
ofthe University/Institutions to maintain the hostels as per standard prescribed norrns. A list of the
OBC hostels sanctioned and constructed in ttrese disticts under the Constuction of Hostels for OBC
Boys and Girls scheme is at Annexure-l.
