Parliament Question: Upgradation of NH-373

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 864 ANSWERED ON 23rd JULY, 2026 UPGRADATION OF NH-373 864. SHRI SHREYAS M PATEL: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware of the deteriorated condition of National Highway (NH) -373 between Arsikere and Huliyar in Hassan district, Karnataka, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether any proposal has been received for the strengthening, widening, reconstruction or comprehensive upgradation of this stretch of NH-373; (c) if so, the present status of the proposal including the estimated project cost, length of the road, funding pattern and the expected timeline for approval and its completion; (d) whether any Detailed Project Report (DPR), technical survey or condition assessment has been carried out for the Arsikere-Huliyar section of NH-373, if so, the details thereof; and (e) the interim measures taken by the Government to repair potholes, improve road safety, strengthen drainage and prevent accidents on this stretch until permanent reconstruction is completed? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) to (e) The Government in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways of the country. The stretch from Arsikere to Huliyar does not lie on NH-373. Arasikere and Huliyar in Hassan district is connected by State Highway SH-102 from Arasikere to Panchhanahalli hand post (33 km) and further by NH-69 from Panchannahalli hand post to Huliyar (20 km). The stretch of NH-69 from Panchanahalli hand post to Huliyar is 2 lane with paved shoulders (20 km) and is in good condition. Presently the stretch is covered under Short-term Maintenance Contract (STMC) up to 09.04.2027 3.800 4.200 Presently the stretch is (Hiremagaluru) (Heremagaluru covered under STMC up ROB) to 09.04.2027. 4.200 5.050 STMC work ended in May (Hiremagaluru) (Karthikere) 2026. To maintain the stretch renewal of wearing course is proposed to be carried out through special repair. 5.050 24.560 Special repair is (Karthikere) (Belur) proposed. 24.560 58.125 Widening to 4L+PS from (Belur) (Hassan) Km 25.00 To Km 58.60 has been awarded on 16.02.2025. Presently the stretch is to be maintained through STMC. 58.125 93.680 The stretch is 4L+PS for (Hassan) (Holenarsipura) which Performance Based Maintenance Contract (PBMC) sanctioned on 31.03.2026. 93.680 105.780 The stretch is 2L+PS for(Holenarsipura) (Yedegowdanahalli) which STMC is under sanction. 105.780 128.080 Special Repair work (Yedegowdanahalli) (Arjunahalli) approved on 24.06.2026. 128.080 151.330 Special Repair work (Arjunahalli) (Bilikere) approved on 24.06.2026. *****
