Parliament Question: Upgradation of Roads

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3051 ANSWERED ON 06TH AUGUST, 2026 UPGRADATION OF ROADS 3051. SHRI RAJKUMAR ROAT: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) whether the rising traffic on the Banswara-Dungarpur, Udaipur- Ratlam and Nimbahera-Dahod routes is resulting in higher number of accidents and longer travel times; (b) if so, the details of road accidents, fatalities and injuries on these routes during the last five years, year-wise; (c) whether any Detailed Project Report (DPR), feasibility study or any other proposal for the four-laning of these routes is being considered or has been sanctioned by the Government; (d) if so, the present status, date of approval, cost, name of construction agency and the likely timeline for the completion of such project; (e) if not, whether the Government proposes to upgrade these routes to four lanes in view of road safety, regional connectivity and future traffic needs; and (f) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) to (f) The details of accidents on Banswara-Dungarpur, Udaipur-Ratlam and Nimbahera-Dahod sections of National Highways are at Annexure. The present status of these sections is as under: (i) Banswara-Dungarpur: This section of NH-927A is having traffic valume of about 6500 Passenger Car Units (PCUs) and has recently been developed to 2-Lane with Paved Shoulder configuration. (ii) Udaipur-Ratlam: Only the Banswara–Rajasthan/MP Border section is National Highway, having 2-Lane/2-Lane with Paved Shoulder configuration with traffic volume of about 7800 PCUs and balance stretches are State roads, being maintained by the Governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in respective States. (iii) Nimbahera-Dahod NH-56 : The present traffic is about 8000 PCUs. The Nimbahera to Pratapgarh section has 2-Lane configuration and is presently under Build Operate Transfer (BOT) Concession. The Pratapgarh-Padi-Dahod section of this corridor have 2-Lane/2-Lane with Paved Shoulder configuration and is presently maintained under short-term maintenance contracts. The work of preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for further improvement/upgradation of the Banswara-Ratlam (part of Udaipur-Ratlam section), Padi-Dahod & Banswara-Padi (part of Nimbahera-Dahod section) sections has been initiated. Decisions of implementation and investment are taken based on the outcome of the DPR, fulfilment of the criteria, requirement of connectivity, traffic density and synergy with PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (f) OF LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3051 ANSWERED ON 06TH AUGUST, 2026 ASKED BY SHRI RAJKUMAR RAOT REGARDING “UPGRADATION OF ROADS”.
