(a) the details of the steps taken by the Government to promote efficiency in air
travel through digitization, particularly with the help of the Digi Yatra App;
(b) the number of persons registered on the said App along with the details of
facilities made available through it; and
(c) the roadmap prepared to further enhance efficiency and digitization in air
travel?

(a) & (b): Digi Yatra, a Facial Verification Technology (FVT) based app has been
launched to provide seamless, hassle-free and faster passenger processing at
various checkpoints at the airports. Digi Yatra mobile application is available on
both Android and iOS platform. Currently, it has been downloaded by more than
1.5 crore users. The app facilitates the passengers to enrol their verifiable
credentials using Aadhaar and to keep their personal information on their
smartphone to ensure data privacy. Use of Digi Yatra app enables faster passenger
processing at various checkpoints at the airports.
Besides Digi Yatra, some other services have also been implemented at few airports
to improve efficiency in air travel through digitization:
i) Self service check-in kiosk.
ii) Self service baggage drop.
iii) Trusted Traveller Program to allow Indian passport holders and Overseas
Citizens of India through e-gates seamlessly.
iv) Waiting time digital display.
v) Hand held 2-D barcode scanner for boarding pass at entry gates
(c): Enhancement in efficiency and digitization in air travel is an on-going process.
Scale up of Digi Yatra is to be carried out in phased manner.
