Parliament Question: Vacancies of AWWs and AWHs

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF WOMEN & CHILD DEVELOPMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO: 3334 TO BE ANSWERED ON 07.08.2026 VACANCIES OF AWWS AND AWHS 3334. SMT. JUNE MALIAH: Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) the sanctioned strength and vacancies of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), Supervisors and Child Development Project Officers in Paschim Medinipur; (b) the reasons for such vacancies; (c) the steps taken to fill these vacancies; and (d) the time by which all vacancies are likely to be filled? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT (SHRIMATI SAVITRI THAKUR) (a) to (d) Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is an ongoing scheme where continuous revamping and restructuring is undertaken for successful implementation of the scheme and to provide benefits to the end beneficiaries in an efficient manner. In the 15th Finance Commission (FC), various components such as nutritional support for children from 6 months to the age of 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mother and Adolescent Girls; Early Childhood Care and Education and Anganwadi infrastructure including modern, upgraded Saksham Anganwadi have been reorganised under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is a Centrally Sponsored scheme. The implementation of the scheme falls under the ambit of State Governments and UTs administrations. The matter regarding filling up of vacant posts at various levels is regularly taken up with the State Governments and UT Administrations through sustained engagements and video conferences so as to ensure uninterrupted delivery of services to the end beneficiaries.
