Vacancies of IFS in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
689. SHRI RYAGA KRISHNAIAH:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) the number of sanctioned and vacant Indian Forest Service (IFS) cadre posts in the
Forest Departments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana;
(b) since when the said posts are lying vacant and the steps taken by Government to fill
those posts;
(c) the number of IFS officers currently awaiting posting in both the States and the reasons
for delay in their posting; and
(d) the impact of non-posting of such officers on the forest administration and conservation
efforts in the States?

(a) and (b)The total number of sanctioned cadre strength and vacancies of the Indian Forest
Service officers in the State of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are detailed below:

As per information received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh the details of the vacant
posts are at Annexure-I. Further, during each of the year 2024 and 2025, 6 IFS officers have
been allocated Andhra Pradesh Cadre. The vacancies against direct recruitment quota are filled
up through the Union Public Service Commission on the basis of the Indian Forest Service
Examination conducted, each year. Similarly, the vacancies against the promotion quota for
induction of State Forest Service officers into Indian Forest Service are also undertaken with
concurrence of Union Public Service Commission.
(c ) and (d) As per information received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, presently,
no IFS officer is awaiting posting in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Further, as per the
information provided by the Government of Telangana, one officer in rank of PCCF has joined
back the State from central deputation on 21.01.2026 and is awaiting posting.
