O.I.H GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.349 TO BE ANSWERED ON 25TH MARCH, 2026 VACCINATION UNDER NADCP *349 SHRI SHAMBHU SHARAN PATEL: Will the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying be pleased to state: (a) the total number of animals vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) so far; (b) the extent to which targets set for Brucellosis vaccination coverage have been achieved; (c) whether disease incidence has declined in the country following the implementation of the mass vaccination programme; (d) if so, the details thereof; and (e) the progress achieved in digital livestock identification and ear tagging of animals in the Country? ANSWER MINISTER FOR FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY & DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) to (e): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (e) IN RESPECT OF RAJAY SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 349 FOR REPLY ON 25.3.2026 REGARDING VACCINATION UNDER NADCPASKED BY SHRI SHAMBHU SHARAN PATEL, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (MP): (a) and (b) As per the information uploaded by the respective State on Bharat Pashudhan Portal, total 132.49 crores (130.30 crores cattle/buffalo and 2.19 crores sheep/goat) for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and 3.17 crores, 4-8 months old bovine female calf for Brucellosis have been vaccinated under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) of Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP) in the country since inception (till 20.03.2026). Vaccination for FMD is done bi annually. (c) & (d) Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), GoI has streamlined the mass vaccination programs under LHDCP scheme. The number of outbreaks of FMD has reduced from 132 in 2019 to 40 during 2025. Similarly, the outbreaks of Brucellosis decreased from 22 in 2019 to 6 during 2025. As per the surveillance report in respect to Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD), average Non-Structural Protein (NSP) antibody prevalence has reduced to 7.8% in FY 2024-25 from 16% in 2021-23. Further, out of three strains of FMD in India (O, A and Asia 1), reportedly there has been no outbreak reported in respect of Asia 1 strain since 2024. (e) DAHD, GoI has developed digital data base-“Bharat Pashudhan” using a unique 12 digit Tag ID allocated to each livestock animal for identification and traceability. In respect of sheep and goat, flock registration is done by tagging single representative animal of the flock. So far 36.81 crore animals have been registered on the Bharat Pashudhan portal in the country. *****
